🩸 What Is Free Bleed?
Free Bleed is a community-driven project fighting period poverty in Amarillo schools.
We raise funds to provide free menstrual products—pads and tampons—for students who need them. At the same time, we work to destigmatize menstruation by treating it as what it is: a normal part of life.
We believe no student should miss school, hide their pain, or suffer shame simply because they don’t have access to essential supplies. Periods are biology, not a barrier.
🎯 Our Goals
Provide free period products to Amarillo ISD and surrounding campuses.
Normalize menstruation by creating open dialogue in schools and public spaces.
Track and distribute resources transparently to the schools that need them most.
Push for systemic change, with the long-term goal of permanent product access in all local schools.
📊 Why This Matters
Many Texas schools are not required to provide period products—and many students go without. That means:
Missed class time
Missed sports and activities
Increased social anxiety
Quiet suffering, made worse by stigma
We’re stepping in to fill the gap—and to change the culture.
So far, we’ve begun distributing products to Amarillo-area campuses and gathering data to better understand the scale of need. Our monthly fundraising goal is $1,500, which allows us to consistently stock multiple campuses.
💸 How the Money Works
90% of funds go directly to buying bulk period supplies
10% supports the infrastructure of this project through HPIAE
Donations are tax-deductible through our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status
We also distribute a portion of supplies to host venues and public gathering spaces—normalizing their presence and making them available to more people, not just students.
🧾 Transparency
We track and publish:
Where each product batch goes
How many students are served
The cost and outcome of each campaign
This is community-driven, open, and collaborative—and it only works if we stay accountable.
🫶 How You Can Help
Make a one-time or recurring donation
Share the campaign on social media
Connect us with schools, venues, or partners
Ask your workplace or organization to sponsor a month
Every dollar makes a difference.
Even one pad can change a student’s day.
